Picking The 2025 Team USA Ryder Cup Roster

The 2025 Ryder Cup is just four weeks away. Team USA captain Keegan Bradley is set to announce his picks on Wednesday. Team USA has won just four times since 1990, and is looking to avenge its embarrassing 2023 performance at Marco Simone. With what looks to be one of the most anticipated Ryder Cups in history, there is a mountain of pressure on Bradley to select the right twelve to win back the Ryder Cup. So who looks to be on the final roster? Below, I'll run through the players I think should be in Bethpage to avenge 2023.

For those unfamiliar, the USA Ryder Cup team consists of 12 players: the top six in qualification points at the end of the BMW Championship, and six captain's picks. In reality, Keegan Bradley only needs to pick six players on Wednesday. Here is my official roster for Team USA:

My captain's picks were based on three factors: course fit, recent performance, and team fit. To understand my captain's picks, let's first look at the automatic qualifiers. Unsurprisingly, Scottie Scheffler ran away from the pack, being the top player in points. He has been the best in the world for years now and is the clear alpha heading into Bethpage. J.J. Spaun won the U.S. Open, which effectively secured his qualification. Xander Schauffele is one of the steadiest players on Tour and in the Ryder Cup. Russell Henley and Harris English are the same way, playing solid golf week in and week out. Rounding out the auto qualifiers is Bryson DeChambeau, who qualified on points using only the four majors, which is ridiculous to think about.

Now that we know who will already be at Bethpage, let's get to the selections Keegan Bradley will announce on Wednesday. Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa are practically locks to be there considering their Ryder Cup experience and their rankings in the point standings (seven and eight, respectively).

Now is when the fun begins. I believe Bradley should pick himself, as he is playing some of the best golf of his career this year, ending the season with a T7 in the TOUR Championship. This is also in Bradley's backyard, and we have seen what the captain can do when he feels at home (see the Travelers).

Next is Patrick Cantlay. Seen as a possible outsider this year, Cantlay went T9 at the St. Jude and T2 at the TOUR. Bradley was likely looking for any signs of life from Cantlay to justify picking him. He has been a Team USA mainstay and is a seamless pairing with Schauffele.

The last two spots on the team are the two that have been discussed for months. If you remembered the three factors that I based my captain's picks off, you could assume Cam Young would be on the roster. Young has been on fire in the past month, with a win at the Wyndham and two top fives in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Not to mention, Bethpage Black is literally in his backyard, and Young has already won a tournament there.

That leaves three players for one spot: Sam Burns, Ben Griffin, and Chris Gotterup.

While Gotterup has been excellent down the stretch, I have to exclude him from the roster. Both Burns and Griffin have shown their abilities for a longer stretch of time. Due to the talent level of Team Europe, I would rather have just one rookie on the squad. This means I want Sam Burns as the last captain's pick. Not only does Sam Burns have previous experience on Team USA, but his putting both matches perfectly with Scottie Scheffler and Bethpage Black.

That rounds out my ideal 2025 Ryder Cup Roster for Team USA. The Americans are a slight favorite heading into Bethpage, shaping up for one of the most exciting Ryder Cups I can remember.
