Wow the Bears are bad. At least I had hopes for them. As for the basketball team that resides in Chicago, I have lost all hope. Below are my thoughts about what should be an interesting 2023 season for the Chicago Bulls.
The over/under win line for the Bulls is 37.5. They will not win 38 games. Zach Lavine, Demar Derozan, and Nikola Vucevic have run their course as Bulls. I do not believe in this core to get to 38, and if they have a below average start, the front office might blow it up.
Zach Lavine should be fun to watch for a majority of the season. Hopefully his fast break dunks provide some excitement for a team stuck in the gray area of the NBA. Although DeMar Derozan is a good player, he's aging and needs to be traded to a contender to get some resources back. A good start from Derozan likely means he is out the door at the deadline. Nikola Vucevic got an extension in the offseason, much to my anger. The contract itself is not a bad one, but the fact we had to extend him because we could not lose a player we gave up multiple firsts for pisses me off.
Hey, maybe you could look at a season like this and be excited to see what the young guys can do. The problem arises when they won't be playing much this season. In the opening game of the season, Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry, and Jalen Phillips combined for a total of 17 minutes on the court. 17. I get it was a close loss to the Thunder, but not a single one of them tallied double digit minutes. Coby White is the only young asset on this team with any value, even though Patrick Williams is supposedly worth 20 million.
At the end of the day, I have lost all hope for the 2023 Bulls. The sheer talent on the team should lead to some fun wins. But the lack of top end talent as well as young players not getting PT does not leave me very excited. I really do hope I'm wrong, but I do not see the Bulls making the playoffs in 2023.
